So yeah, I was gonna put up a review of the Social D gig last wednesday, but I just didn’t have time… Now I still don’t have much time, but I don’t feel like doing the important stuff right now, lol. It’s just wayyy too hot today to even think properly!

So, I went with my boyfriend, Remo, to the gig last wednesday, we went early because we wanted to catch Frank Turner’s set as well. As we walked from the parking to the venue in Amsterdam, this guy I instantly recognized as Jonny 2-Bags walked past us. I acted cool and as he smiled at the sight of my Social D shirt, I just said “Hey man!” to him as he past us. Remo didn’t even notice him at first until I told him it was Jonny 2-Bags and he turned around to look, Jonny was waiting to cross the street, and then Remo saw it was him.
At moments like that I just don’t want to impose on anyone, I mean he was just walking on the street, I didn’t want to get all like “OMGZZZ Can I get an autograph??!!”. So I don’t have an autograph, no photo… but I did get to say “Hi” to him lol! Which is good enough for me.

Anyways, we went to the venue and stood in line. The place was already packed when we got in. I always love the diversity of people at a Social D gig, everything from punks to nerds, old, young, it doesn’t matter, it’s all there!
Frank Turner was already playing, he was great, I had already seen him a couple years back, when he was supporting The Gaslight Anthem. Too bad he played a very short 30 min set! The crowd went wild during “I Still Believe” which is also one of my favourites. He ended with another one of my fav’s “Photosynthesis”.

I hadn’t expected that Social D would start so quickly after Frank Turner had finished, I mean I’m always used to a band taking pretty long to get on stage, because of sound checks. So if the ticket says “main act starts at 20:30” I always know it will be 21:00. But this time it actually started at 20:30, that was new for me. Of course the show started with Muddy Waters - Manish Boy. After that the band came on stage to play Road Zombie, Mike walked on stage last, the crowd when crazy when he came on, dressed in his overly baggy work pants, which he wears often, with a white shirt and black suspenders and a black fedora hat with a feather on the side. He could’ve walked straight off the set of the Machine Gun Blues video. At this point I’m unable to tell you all the songs in the right order… I’m pretty sure after Road Zombie they played Bad Luck. Mike was very talkative during the show, he talked about how they were in Amsterdam for three days, and that he had been spending his time at the pancake house around the corner and that he enjoyed shopping in Amsterdam. It was pretty sweet because you could genuinely hear that he had been having a good time.
They played (in no particular order, cause I can’t remember) Down Here (With The Rest Of Us), Sick Boy, Story Of My Life, Mommy’s Little Monster, Don’t Drag Me Down, Ball & Chain, Six More Miles, Reach For The Sky, Sweet & Lowdown, Machine Gun Blues, Prison Bound, I think that’s about it and the encore was California (Hustle & Flow), Can’t Take It With You and Ring Of Fire.

I hoped that they would play Down On The World Again… but they didn’t :(
Oh well, maybe in London next week, I will be going there as well, it’s gonna be fun, since I’ve never been to London before.
We’ll be staying for 3 days, yay!

I just realized I’m gonna see Social Distortion next week! Hellzzz yeah!

Gonna be awesome
Can’t wait!!!!!
